Review: OPPO Reno8 Pro 5G
OPPO has made some great strides in the build quality of its smartphones in recent years. However, the Reno 8 Pro 5G is not quite at the same level as the Find X or the Zenfone 6. The build quality is still good, but it doesn’t quite match up to the competition. The back has a glossy finish and is made out of polycarbonate (plastic), while the frame is made out of metal. The device is also water-resistant (IP68) and comes with a 3.5 mm headphone jack. The display of the OPPO Reno 8 Pro 5G is a large 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED screen. The screen is decent and provides good color reproduction and viewing angles. The sunlight legibility is decent too, but the brightness could’ve been a bit higher.
Camera
The Reno 8 Pro 5G comes with a 50 MP primary camera at the back and a 32 MP selfie camera. The primary camera is capable of taking some really good shots and is backed by a ton of AI features. The portrait mode shots also look good with a decent edge detection and edge blurring effect. The zoom performance of the camera is also decent. The low-light imaging capabilities are also pretty good, but the noise reduction is a bit aggressive and overshoots in the clarity department by a small margin. The secondary rear camera is a 8 MP depth sensor, which is useful in shooting portrait shots and making the subject stand out with a blur effect in the background.
Performance
Conclusion
The OPPO Reno 8 Pro 5G is a great device overall, and it is at a very competitive price point. The device comes with a large screen, good cameras, and a capable SoC. There are a couple of downsides to the device such as the build quality, aggressive noise reduction in the camera, and the heating while charging. However, the device is still a good purchase if you’re looking for a premium smartphone at an affordable price. If you’re looking for a smartphone with 5G connectivity, then the Reno 8 Pro 5G is a good option. And if you’re a fan of OPPO, then this one might be the one for you
